House Standards

A few principles that keep the studio quiet, considered, and welcoming — for everyone.

Before We Begin

Studios are shared spaces. The best ones are sustained by clear expectations and mutual care. What follows is what to know — before, during, and after class. None of it is precious. Think of it as the quiet handshake between The Society and its members.

Before You Arrive

  • How early to arrive. Fifteen minutes for your first class. Five to ten thereafter.
  • Attire. Fitted and comfortable. Loose clothing and the apparatus do not get along.
  • Grip socks. Required. Bring your own or purchase a pair at the studio.
  • Belongings. Cubbies are available near the entry. Please leave bags, shoes, and personal effects there.
  • Water. Welcome — in a closed, non-glass container.

During Class

  • Phones. Silenced and stowed. The studio floor is phone-free.
  • Leaving early. Tell your instructor before class begins.
  • Equipment. We reset between classes; feel free to wipe down surfaces as needed. Supplies are provided.
  • Fragrance. We ask members to be mindful with fragrance. Our instructors work hands-on, and some members have sensitivities.

Late Arrivals & Cancellations

  • How late is too late. For safety and the integrity of the class, members cannot be admitted more than five minutes after start.
  • Cancellation window. Please cancel at least twelve hours before class to avoid a late-cancel fee.
  • No-shows. Charged the full class fee, or a session from your pack or membership.
  • Why this matters. Our classes are intentionally measured. A no-show is a place that could have gone to a member on the waitlist.

First-Time Members

  • Where to start. The Initiation — a complimentary one-on-one session — followed by The Debut. See New Clients for the full path.
  • If you’ve never practiced before. The Debut was built for you.
  • Eating before class. A light snack 60–90 minutes ahead is ideal. Avoid heavy meals immediately before.
  • Injuries. Tell your instructor in advance. For significant injuries or post-surgical recovery, begin with a private session.
  • Progressing. Yes — the menu is leveled and progressive. Your instructor will guide you toward the next level when you’re ready. Private sessions are available for custom progression plans.
